After a tough loss to Brecksville, the Bears traveled to Nordonia to take on the Knights last week. Opening series defense forced Nordonia to punt after 3 plays. QB Joe McVicar connects on some passes to Carson Mroczka and Dawson Grimm to lead Bears downfield. Marc Hernandez follows the offensive line and powers in for the score. 6-0 Bears! Defense again plays solid and Bears get ball back. McVicar finds Bradley Kmetz in the end zone for 12-0 bear lead. Later in the first half, Marc Hernandez again follows the offensive line for another score. The Bears offensive line of Collin O’Farrell, Josh Novak, Nick Wischmeier, Jeremy Ziemak, and Tyler Sonnenwald just had an outstanding game. They created huge running lanes for the running backs and provided the time needed for McVicar to find open receivers.
Bears go into halftime up 18-14. Second half Johnathon Hannah has interception which results in another rushing TD for Hernandez behind the great work of the Bears offensive line. The 2 point conversion is successful. Bears up 26-14. Then the Bears hurt themselves with some turnovers and penalties which results in Nordonia taking the lead.
27-26 with 6:33 left in the game. The Bears regain their focus and intensity and put together a game winning 70 yard offensive drive to win the game. The final play with less than ten seconds on the clock, McVicar finds Kmetz in the end zone for the score. Brad made a tremendous catch with Knights all over him to give the Bears the victory on the road 32-27.
This week, the Bears travel to Cuyahoga Falls.
