Girls Varsity Gymnastics · Varsity Gymnastics Finish in 2nd Place at Sectionals and Qualify for Districts

On Monday February 18th, the NRHS Gymnastics Team competed in the Sectional Tournament against 15 full teams and 8 additional schools who did not have enough athletes to make up a team score.  The Lady Bears came in 2nd place with a season high score of 144.225 and are advancing on to the District Meet on February 23rd at West Geauga High School.  Also moving on is Brecksville Broadview Heights (1st place – 147.00), Stow Munroe-Falls (3rd place – 136.1), and Berea-Midpark (4th place – 133.375).

The Lady Bears also have three individuals who are moving on to the District Meet.  Junior Avery Keller is advancing on vault, bars, floor and all-around.  Avery also put up her personal best all-around with a 36.175.  In addition, Sophomore Mya Costello is advancing in the all-around, as well as on bars, beam and floor.  Mya put up a personal best of 9.45 on the balance beam.  Joining them at Districts is freshman Molly Benefiel, who is advancing on vault, beam, floor and all-around.  Molly put up personal bests on beam (8.95), floor (9.175) and all-around (35.85).

Sophomore Hannah Haffner narrowly missed qualifying on beam, floor and all-around.  She was 13th place on beam and floor and 14th in the all-around.  The top 12 athletes advance.  However, her rock solid scores helped the team tremendously in achieving their season high score.  She put up a personal best on beam (8.925) and floor (8.975) and tied her personal best all-around (35.15).

Sophomore Emily Shuck also had a personal best on bars (8.45) and in the all-around (32.55).
