Throughout the season we will “Spotlight” the Coaches from the various North Royalton Middle School Teams. Today, the “Spotlight” shines on Erin Barrett of the Boys and Girls Middle School Track Teams. We recently had the opportunity to learn a little more about Coach Barrett and her life on and off the field.

[Do you have a pre-game routine and/or any superstitions?] I wasn’t superstitious about middle school sports until this year.
[What is your best spots memory?] My best sports memory was running at track practice with my favorite coach. She was kind, but knew how to help us goal set and push us to improve. I saw so much improvement every season. I still keep in touch with her today and I try to emulate her good example.
[Who is your favorite team or professional player and Why?] Baker Mayfield; because “all the brownies needed was a Baker!”
[What is your favorite food?] Potatoes in any for! I am Irish.
[What was your favorite school subject growing up?] Both health and physical education!
[What has been your favorite vacation?] Ireland
[What is your personal goal for coaching?] Understand your players. Build their self-esteem. Learn and grow from our mistakes.
[What message do you have to the youth who want to play for you in Middle School?] Go for it! You might not like all sports but there is something for everybody at NRMS. Track & Field is especially awesome because there are so many options!
