Throughout the season we will “Spotlight” the Coaches from the various North Royalton Middle School Teams. Today, the “Spotlight” shines on Chuck Tesar of the Boys and Girls Middle School Track Teams. We recently had the opportunity to learn a little more about Coach Tesar and his life on and off the field.
[How many years have you been coaching the Boys and Girls Middle School Track Teams?] 26
[Have you coached any other teams?] Varsity Boys & Girls Track for 12 years (High Jump/Hurdles), Assistant Boys Varsity Basketball for 5 years and Assistant Girls JV/Varsity Basketball for 14 years
[Did you play any sports growing up?] Track and Basketball at Hillside Junior High, Football, Track and Basketball at Normandy High School and Track for Cleveland State University
[What is your professional career?] Teacher (retired)
[Do you have a pre-game routine and/or any superstitions?] None
[What is your best spots memory?] Participating in the Ohio State High School Track Meet in Columbus as both a High School athlete and a as coach.
[Who is your favorite team or professional player and Why?] The local teams (Browns, Cavs and Indians) are the pro teams I follow the most.
[What is your favorite food?] Chinese Food
[What was your favorite school subject growing up?] Science
[What has been your favorite vacation?] Every summer we travel up to Michigan. Traverse City, Grand/South Haven and Petoskey are some of my favorite areas. Even though I do NOT like the college team “up north”, I really enjoy the state.
[What is your personal goal for coaching?] To teach the younger athletes the basics of the sport and how to have a good time competing.
[What message do you have to the youth who want to play for you in Middle School?] Have fun and work hard in whatever you’re doing.
