On Saturday May 1st, the Boys Freshman Baseball Team travel to play a doubleheader with North Ridgeville High School. In game two, the Bears went into extra innings and beat North Ridgeville 8 – 5. The victory extended the Bears winning streak to 10 straight wins.
The Freshman Bears got on the board in the first inning scoring 2 runs on RBI base hits by Logan Saunders and Dominic Marini. After giving up 5 runs in the third inning the Bears offense went back to work by scoring 2 runs in the fourth on a RBI triple by Ryan Meizen and run scoring ground out by Jack Heffke to cut the Ranger lead to 5-4 where it remained until the top of the seventh inning when a Mario Escano single tied the game at 5 and send it to extra innings. In the top of the eighth Timmy Sullivan singled on a 0-2
count, scoring one run and a Jack Heffke triple adding 2 more insurance runs.
Dominic Marini started the game for the Bears. Dominic allowed three hits and five runs over three innings, striking out six. AJ Dezutti threw three innings of scoreless relief out of the bullpen allowing only 1 hit no walks and 7 strikeouts. Brody Nahrstedt was the
winning pitcher for the Bears. The Brody surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out four.
The Bears collected 12 hits on the day. The Bears were led by Jack Heffke with a 4 hit game and 2 hits each from Marini and Escano. Heffke went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Freshman Bears in hits.
The Boys Freshman Baseball Team record is now at 14 wins and 5 losses. The conference record is 5 win and 1 loss. Come cheer on the team as they host a game with Brecksville-Broadview Hts High School on Tuesday, May 4th. GO BEARS!!
