On Saturday, February 16th, the Girls Varsity Basketball Team travelled to take on Parma High School in the first round of the OHSAA Tournament. The Bears struggled in the first half with numerous turnovers caused by the Parma full court press and found themselves down 29 to 17 at halftime. The second half was a different story as the Bears played one of their best halves of the season with excellent teamwork and defense. With 3 minutes left, the Bears fought hard and came all the way back to find themselves only down by 2 points at 41 to 39. The Bears kept battling but fell short and lost to Parma 47 to 43 to end their 2018-2019 season.
The Bears were led by Kaitlyn Bockelman as she scored 16 points all in the second half. Also scoring were Sarah Mohammad with 10 points, Tiffanie Radwanski with 7 points, Jaya Harris with 4 points, Julia Liptak with 3 points, Lexi Kovach with 2 points and Jordan Evanko with 1 point.
The Girls Varsity Basketball Team finished the 2018-2019 season with a record of 2 wins and 21 losses. With a very young team, the Bears gained valuable experience this year and have much optimism for next season. GO BEARS!!
